What this product is
The BoYata 40Gbps NVMe SSD enclosure turns a 2280 M-Key or M+B-Key NVMe drive into a portable Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C storage device. An integrated cooling fan and aluminium alloy shell with a waved hollow design keep temperatures low during sustained transfers. No external power supply or driver installation is required on Windows, Mac OS or Linux.
Check your setup first
Your host must provide a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 port or a USB-C port that supports 10Gbps data to reach the enclosure's rated speeds. The drive you install must be an M.2 PCIe NVMe module in the 2280 form factor with either an M-Key or M+B-Key edge connector. A 30 cm USB-C cable is included for the connection.
What it replaces and when to upgrade
This enclosure replaces a slower USB 3.0 or 3.1 drive caddy when you need up to 3000 MB/s read and 2500 MB/s write over Thunderbolt 3. The jump is worthwhile for moving 50 GB in roughly a minute or transferring multi-gigabyte files in seconds. Builders who need a second simultaneous drive or a larger form factor such as 22110 should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item
What comes in the box and do I need to buy the NVMe drive separately?
The enclosure includes a 30 cm USB-C cable, a thermal pad and the aluminium housing with built-in fan. You must supply your own M.2 2280 NVMe SSD (M-Key or M+B-Key) because no drive is included.
Which SSD form factor and key type should I choose for this enclosure?
Select a single-sided or double-sided M.2 2280 NVMe drive with either an M-Key or an M+B-Key notch; other lengths or key types will not fit.
What does the 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 rating mean for real-world copy speeds?
With a compatible Thunderbolt 3 host the enclosure can reach 3000 MB/s read and 2500 MB/s write, letting you move 50 GB in about one minute.
