Hardened Industrial 8-Port Switch

The Brainboxes SW-708 is an eight-port Fast Ethernet switch built for industrial environments. It mounts on a standard DIN rail and operates on an AC adapter. The unmanaged design suits installers who need a simple, hardened network segment without configuration overhead.

Verify Power and Cabling Before Installing

Confirm that an AC outlet is available near the DIN rail location for the supplied adapter. Ensure all connected devices use twisted-pair cabling compatible with 10/100Base-T ports. The switch does not support redundant power input, so plan for a single feed.

Fanless Design Handles Continuous Traffic

With no moving parts, the unit dissipates heat passively across its 431 g metal enclosure during sustained 100 Mbps loads. The compact 45 mm height allows dense cabinet packing without airflow concerns. RoHS and WEEE compliance confirms the materials meet environmental standards for long-term deployment.

Questions about this item

Does the SW-708 include a power supply or must I buy an AC adapter separately?

The package contains the hardened industrial Ethernet 8-port switch, a DIN rail mounting kit and a quick start guide; an AC adapter is required but not included.

With eight Fast Ethernet ports, how do I decide if this switch fits my bandwidth needs?

Each port runs at 10/100 Mb/s, so the switch suits devices that need up to 100 Mb/s per connection; choose it when gigabit speed is not required.

What does the 10/100Base-T rating mean for real-world throughput on this switch?

It delivers up to 100 Mb/s per port over twisted-pair cable, providing deterministic low-latency switching for industrial automation and control networks.
