What it is and who it’s for

The Breville Barista Touch Impress BES881BSS is an espresso and cappuccino machine with an integrated conical burr grinder. It targets home users who want guided, step-by-step barista assistance from grinding through to milk texturing without manual puck preparation.

Installation and common issues

The machine ships as a single countertop unit with the grinder built in, so there is no separate grinder to align or additional plumbing to connect. The main setup task is dialling in one of the 30 grind settings and letting the assisted 22 lb tamping system learn the dose; users who skip the guided calibration often end up with under-extracted shots.

Capacity and headroom

The integrated hopper feeds the 30-setting grinder for consecutive drinks, and the ThermoJet heating system reaches extraction temperature in 3 seconds, keeping pace with back-to-back brewing. Milk-based recipes are limited by the single steam wand’s throughput, so large gatherings will see a queue form while the wand textures each pitcher.
