Green low-profile PCIe card with two external ports and a metal bracket

Broadcom

Broadcom 05-50013-01 9400-8e 8-port 12 Gb/s SAS RAID controller

SKU CH-1TFC-TBPVG MPN 05-50013-01

Eight-port 12 Gb/s SAS RAID controller connects up to 1024 SATA and SAS devices over PCIe 3.1 x8

  • Connect up to 1024 SAS/SATA devices for massive external storage scalability
  • 8 external ports at 12 Gb/s SAS deliver high bandwidth for demanding workloads
  • PCIe 3.1 x8 interface provides 1.2 GBps throughput to support critical applications
  • Low-profile form factor fits dense server chassis for flexible data-centre deployment
  • Tri-Mode architecture enables SATA 6 Gb/s and SAS 12 Gb/s connectivity on a single adapter

12 Gb/s SAS RAID Controller

The Broadcom 9400-8e is a Tri-Mode storage adapter built for large-scale external enclosures. It connects through eight external ports that operate at 12 Gb/s SAS and 6 Gb/s SATA speeds. A PCIe 3.1 x8 host interface supplies 1.2 GBps of throughput for demanding data-centre workloads.

Suited for servers needing maximum external

This card supports up to 1024 SAS or SATA devices, making it appropriate for high-density storage clusters. Builders who require internal drive connections should look elsewhere because the bracket provides only external ports. It also lacks on-board RAID processing for arrays that need hardware acceleration.

PCIe 3.1 x8 host interface

The adapter installs in a single PCIe 3.1 x8 slot and delivers 1.2 GBps of bandwidth to the host system. That link width and generation determine whether the controller can saturate its eight 12 Gb/s lanes under heavy I/O loads. Verify the motherboard slot matches this requirement before purchase.
