Stackable 48-port managed switch

The Brocade ICX7250-48-2X10G is a stackable managed switch built for enterprise Gigabit Ethernet access layers. It provides forty-eight RJ45 ports running at 10/100/1000 Mbps and eight SFP uplinks for fibre connectivity. The unit supports IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet and operates on AC 120/230 V at 50/60 Hz.

Layer 3 routing and security features

Static IPv4 and IPv6 routing plus ECMP give basic Layer 3 forwarding without a separate router. IGMP v2/v3 and MLD v2 snooping optimise multicast traffic for video or imaging workflows. AES encryption, IEEE 802.1x port authentication and DoS attack prevention harden the control plane and data path.

16K MAC table and 9216-byte jumbo frames

A 16K MAC address table handles typical campus access densities while 9216-byte jumbo frames reduce overhead for storage or backup streams. The switch runs out of headroom when MAC entries exceed the table limit or when aggregate uplink demand surpasses the eight SFP ports.

Target enterprise access deployments

This switch targets organisations deploying managed Gigabit access with stacking for simplified operations. It is not suited for environments that require ten-gigabit downlink ports, high-density multi-gigabit endpoints or advanced dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF or BGP.

Questions about this item

How many SFP uplink ports might need replacement transceivers later?

The switch provides eight SFP uplink ports; each accepts standard SFP transceivers that can be swapped individually as needed.

Which hardware limit is reached first when MAC-heavy traffic fills the 16K address table?

The 16K MAC address table is the first constraint; once full, new source addresses cannot be learned until existing entries age out.

What power draw and heat should I expect when all 48 RJ45 ports run at 1000Mbps continuously?

The unit operates on AC 120/230 V at 50/60 Hz; with full Gigabit load the internal power supply and fans handle the thermal load within rated limits.
