Brocade 16 Gbit/s SFP transceiver 10 km

This Brocade transceiver delivers 16 Gbit/s Fibre Channel connectivity over single-mode fibre up to 10 km. It is designed for storage-area-network links that require long-wave optics.

Thermals noise and power

The module operates within standard SFP thermal limits and draws low power typical for 16 Gbit/s long-reach optics. No active cooling is required and acoustic output is negligible in normal rack environments.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Brocade XBR-000198 16 Gbit/s SFP transceiver, and which step is most often missed?

Insert the transceiver firmly into a compatible SFP+ port until the latch clicks, then connect a single-mode LC fibre patch cable rated for 10 km; the step most often missed is removing the dust caps from both the transceiver and the cable before linking them.

What maintenance or replacement will the Brocade XBR-000198 16 Gbit/s SFP transceiver need over time?

The module itself has no user-serviceable parts; plan to inspect and clean the LC optical interfaces whenever links show errors, and replace the transceiver only if it fails or if the network migrates beyond 16 Gbit/s speeds.
