3-4 Thread Serger for Home Sewing

The Brother 1034D is a 3-4 thread serger designed for home embroidery and sewing projects. It trims, seams and overlocks fabric edges in a single operation at speeds up to 1300 stitches per minute. A free-arm and flat-bed convertible surface supports sleeves, cuffs and larger flat pieces. The machine uses two needles and offers adjustable stitch width from 5.0 to 7.0mm and stitch length from 2.0 to 4.0mm.

Lay-In Threading and Lower Looper Threader

Lay-In Threading guides each thread along a colour-coded path to simplify setup. The F.A.S.T. lower looper threader pushes thread through the looper with a lever, reducing manual threading effort. The package includes four large spools of serger thread, a soft cover, an accessory bag with needle set, thread nets, spool caps, tweezers, a cleaning brush, a hexagonal driver, a trim trap and a foot controller pedal. A bilingual manual and instructional DVD are also supplied.

Mechanical Constraints and Safety

Stitch width is mechanically adjustable between 3.00mm and 7.00mm, limiting the range of overlock, narrow hem, rolled hem and ribbon lock stitches available. A safety interlock prevents the machine from running when the front cover is open. The retractable knife blade can be disengaged to avoid accidental fabric cuts during rolled hems. Two-point thread tension control allows individual needle adjustment, but the machine remains a mechanical serger without computerised stitch programming.
