Build and mounting

The tape measures 2.4 inches wide by 100 feet long, supplied on a standard roll that drops straight into the printer's media compartment. White paper stock carries a removable adhesive formulated to peel cleanly from flat, smooth surfaces such as glass, metal or polished wood. No assembly is required before loading the roll into a compatible QL device.

Thermals and power

Direct thermal technology uses the printer's heated print head to create black text and graphics on the white paper, so the tape itself draws no power and generates no heat during operation. The paper material produces no mechanical noise; only the printer's feed mechanism is audible while labels are being advanced and cut. There are no batteries, chips or electronic components in the roll.
