An IP54-rated housing with 6.88 ft drop protection handles dust, moisture and rough handling in field-service, warehousing and transport roles. Connectivity includes USB 2.0, Bluetooth, NFC pairing and IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN with security features.

Who it suits and who it does not

Field technicians, delivery drivers and warehouse staff who need a lightweight, battery-powered printer for on-the-spot labels and receipts will benefit from the 256 MB memory, simple drop-in media loading and the Mobile Deploy app for remote configuration. Buyers who need colour output, higher print resolution or a desktop form factor with continuous high-volume throughput should look at other product classes.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 4.09" maximum print width or the 4.45" maximum label width for my application?

The 4.09" figure is the widest printable area, while 4.45" is the widest label stock the printer can accept. Choose media up to 4.45" wide, but design your layout within the 4.09" printable zone.

What does the 5ips print speed mean when I am printing full-width 4.09" labels in the field?

At the top speed of 5ips the printer can produce up to 5 inches of label length every second, so a 6-inch label finishes in just over a second. Throughput drops if you use heavier media or enable higher-density graphics.

Which interfaces are built in, and what practical limits do they impose on mobile printing?

The printer includes USB 2.0 (mini-B), Bluetooth, NFC pairing and 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN. USB gives a wired link, Bluetooth and NFC simplify phone pairing, while Wi-Fi lets the printer join a network for multi-user or cloud jobs.
