Purpose-built label tape

Brother TZE231 is a 12 mm laminated cartridge that prints black text on a white background for file folders, binders, name badges and small signage. The standard adhesive bonds to flat office surfaces and the laminated face resists water, grease, grime, fading and abrasion. Each cartridge holds 26.25 ft of tape and is sold as a single unit.

Printer compatibility

The cartridge fits a wide range of P-Touch machines including the GL-100, PT-1000 series, PT-1010 variants, PT-1090, PT-1100 series, PT-1120, PT-1130, PT-1160, PT-1170, PT-1180, PT-1190, PT-1200 and PT-1230PC models. No assembly is required and the tape feeds directly from the cassette into the printer mechanism. It frees the user from cutting individual labels by hand.

Capacity and limits

One cartridge yields 26.25 ft of 12 mm wide labels, suitable for everyday indoor and outdoor marking tasks. The standard adhesive is not designed for rough, textured or low-surface-energy plastics, so those applications will need a different tape formulation. Buyers who need wider formats or specialty adhesives should select another cartridge.

Questions about this item

How long does the 26.25 ft roll last when printing continuous 12 mm labels all day?

The cartridge holds 26.25 feet of 12 mm laminated tape; actual yield depends on label length and text density, so a single roll can produce hundreds of typical file-folder or badge labels before replacement.

Does the laminated surface stay readable after a full shift in a warm kitchen or cold warehouse?

The tape is rated for hot and cold environments and resists water, grease, grime, fading and abrasion, so printed text remains legible through temperature swings and daily cleaning.

Which P-Touch model numbers accept the TZE231 cartridge?

Compatible printers include the PT-1000, PT-1010, PT-1090, PT-1100, PT-1120, PT-1130, PT-1160, PT-1170, PT-1180, PT-1190, PT-1200 and PT-1230PC series.
