Replaces fibre modules for short runs

When a link stays within 30 metres and the far end also has an RJ45 port, this module removes the need for patch cords, patch panels and separate media converters. The jump is worth it when cabinet density or cabling cost makes copper simpler than OM3 or single-mode fibre.

Hot-plug install with standard RJ45

Insert the module while the switch is powered on, then connect a Cat5e or better patch cord to the RJ45 jack. The main pitfalls are exceeding the 30 metre reach, using cable below Cat5e quality, or plugging into a port that does not support 1000BASE-T negotiation.
