Industrial Locking Plug L16-20P

The Bryant 71620 is a straight blade locking plug rated for 480V AC three-phase power at 20 amps. It is built for industrial equipment and heavy-duty wiring tasks that demand a secure, non-shrouded connection.

Cord Range 0.465 to 1.150 Inches

The plug accepts cord diameters from 0.465 in to 1.150 in, letting installers use a wide variety of cable sizes without adapters. Its standard wiring style simplifies termination on site.

Nylon Housing No IP Rating

The black and white nylon body resists impact but carries no IP rating, so it is suited for dry indoor or sheltered locations only. Non-shrouded pins mean quick mating but require care in dusty or wet environments.

Questions about this item

Will the nylon housing or the cord-grip need periodic replacement under industrial use?

The nylon body and the non-shrouded L16-20P contacts are rated for 20 A at 480 V AC; inspect the cord-grip range of .465 in to 1.150 in and the contact faces during routine PM cycles and replace if discoloration or looseness appears.

What thermal or current limit is reached first when the plug runs at full 5.0 HP load continuously?

The 20 A rating at 480 V three-phase defines the continuous limit; the nylon housing has no IP rating, so ambient temperature and enclosure ventilation will determine whether the 20 A ceiling or housing temperature is reached first.

How much heat does the plug dissipate when it carries 20 A all day?

At 20 A and 480 V three-phase the plug handles up to 5.0 HP; the nylon housing has no IP rating and no antimicrobial coating, so heat rises with load and ambient conditions — mount in a ventilated enclosure and monitor temperature during extended runs.
