DIY USB 3.1 Type-C Solder Kit
This kit supplies five white USB 3.1 Type-C male connectors for custom cable assembly. Each unit includes a 24-pin plug, a 56 kΩ resistor for power and data negotiation, and a surface-mount PCB ready for hand soldering. Builders who need ready-made, moulded cables will not find them here.
Capacity and Headroom
The connectors support USB 3.1 signalling and the 56 kΩ resistor enables standard Type-C power and data roles, but the product notes state they do not work for OTG applications. Reversible insertion works in both directions for convenience. Users who require OTG host functionality must choose a different component.
SMT Connector Practical Limits
Each plug ships with a 3.5 mm strain-relief and a white housing cover, although the cover is not 100 % compatible without an additional inner overmould step. The copper construction and attached PCB allow direct wire soldering for bespoke lengths. Buyers without soldering equipment or overmoulding capability cannot complete a finished cable with this kit alone.

Questions about this item
Will this 24-pin USB 3.1 Type-C connector work with my existing USB 2.0 cables and ports?
The connector includes a 56k resistor for USB 3.1 power and data, so it is designed for USB 3.1 Type-C interfaces and does not support OTG; it will not function with USB 2.0-only cables or ports.
How can I verify the 56k resistor is functioning correctly after I solder the connector?
After soldering, plug the connector into a USB-C female port; the reversible design allows insertion either way, and the connected device should negotiate USB 3.1 power and data if the resistor is working.
What comes in the 5-set package and what extra materials do I need to complete a cable?
The package contains five white USB 3.1 Type-C male connectors with 3.5mm strain relief and housing covers; you must supply your own cable wire, solder, and perform inner overmolding because the covers are not 100% compatible out of the box.
