DC 4.5×3.0 mm input for USB-C devices

This cable converts a DC 4.5 mm by 3.0 mm female barrel connector into a USB-C male plug. It targets users who want to power USB-C laptops, tablets or phones from an existing DC power brick instead of the original charger. A built-in PD identification chip negotiates the correct voltage automatically. The 17.4 cm nylon-braided cable with metal heads is designed for portable use.

PD protocol limits output to 5 V, 9 V or 20 V

The cable’s PD chip only enables 5 V at 2 A, 9 V at 2 A and 20 V at 7 A; 12 V and 15 V profiles are not available. Input voltage must sit between 15 V and 20.5 V, so the source brick has to match that range. If the brick cannot supply the negotiated PDO, the connection will not deliver power. The USB-C plug cannot accept power from a USB-C source; it is output only.

Handles devices up to 140 W with a stronger brick

The assembly is rated for 140 W maximum output, so it comfortably runs most ultraportables and tablets within that envelope. A 90 W brick will not start a 90 W or 100 W laptop because the source must exceed the load. Buyers whose laptops draw more than 140 W or who need 12 V or 15 V PD steps cannot use this cable.
