Target users and purpose

This two-foot USB 4.0 Type C cable links laptops, smartphones, monitors, docking stations and gaming consoles with a single male-to-male connection. It carries data at up to 40 Gbps, delivers up to 240 W of Power Delivery charging and drives 8K video at 60 Hz. Thunderbolt 4 and 3 hosts are fully supported.

Who it suits and who should look elsewhere

Creative professionals and power users who need maximum bandwidth, high-wattage charging and 8K display output from one short cable will benefit. Buyers whose devices only support lower USB speeds or limited Power Delivery profiles will not gain the rated performance. Anyone requiring a longer reach should consider a different length.

Deciding specification

The cable is rated for 40 Gbps transfer speed, 240 W (48 V 5 A) charging and 8K@60 Hz video over Thunderbolt 4/3. Verify that your host and peripheral both support these specifications to achieve the advertised throughput and power.

Questions about this item

What does 40Gbps mean for actual file transfers?

With a compatible host and device the cable can reach read speeds up to 2.8GB/s and write speeds up to 2.1GB/s, so a 2.5GB file can move in roughly one second.

How does the Thunderbolt 4/3 compatibility limit what I can connect?

The cable works with any Thunderbolt 4 or 3 port and falls back to USB 3.2, 3.1 or 3.0 speeds when the connected device does not support the higher protocol.

Will the 2ft length reach my monitor from a laptop on a stand?

At 0.6 metres the straight male-to-male cord is intended for close-range links such as a dock, power bank or phone on the same desk.
