This 1.5 m cable converts a USB-C Power Delivery charger into a 18 V or 20 V barrel output for laptops that use a 5.5 mm by 2.1 mm DC jack. It is aimed at owners of compatible notebooks who want to replace a bulky proprietary brick with a compact GaN charger. The integrated PD trigger negotiates the higher voltage automatically when a suitable source is connected.

PD negotiation limited to 18 V or 20 V output

The cable only requests 18 V or 20 V from the charger and does not support the 5 V profile, so it cannot power devices that rely on the default USB voltage. A 65 W or 87 W USB-C charger is required, and the charger's rated power must exceed the laptop's demand or the trigger will not engage. Data lines are not wired, so the cable serves power only.

Copper conductors with moulded strain relief

The 4.9 ft length uses copper conductors terminated in a USB-C female port on one end and a 5.5×2.1 mm DC male plug on the other. A 90 degree angled USB-C housing reduces strain on the charger port during desk use. The moulded construction resists everyday bending but the fixed connector orientation may not suit every laptop jack placement.
