USB-to-FireWire adapter for legacy devices

This 1.8 m cable connects IEEE 1394 4-pin iLink peripherals to a standard USB-A port. It targets owners of older camcorders, external drives or audio interfaces that still rely on the FireWire interface. The adapter bridges the gap when a computer lacks a native 1394 controller. No external power supply is required for the link.

Replaces a missing FireWire port or card

The cable upgrades a system that has no built-in 1394 header or an incompatible expansion slot. It is worth the switch when the legacy device must transfer DV footage or control signals and no internal card fits the chassis. Buyers who need a 6-pin or 9-pin FireWire connector cannot use this 4-pin version.
