4-Bay 64TB rackmount NAS for business

The Buffalo TeraStation 5420 delivers 64TB of pre-configured storage across four 16TB NAS-grade drives in a 1U rackmount chassis. An Annapurna Labs Alpine AL524 quad-core processor at 2.04 GHz and 8GB of DDR4 memory drive high read/write performance through RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 or JBOD. A native 10GbE port plus two 1GbE ports connect directly to existing network infrastructure without cable upgrades.

Suits teams needing certified virtualization storage

VMware and Windows Server 2022 certification makes this unit a fit for virtualised workloads and shared file repositories. Cloud sync with Amazon S3, Dropbox, Microsoft Azure and OneDrive supports hybrid backup strategies. AES-256 encryption, two-factor authentication and snapshot recovery address compliance requirements. Organisations requiring more than four drive bays or a different drive interface should evaluate larger chassis options.

Bundled drives and software reduce setup time

Four OP-HD16.0N drives arrive pre-tested and RAID-configured so the array is production-ready on first boot. The package includes a quick setup guide, AC cable and warranty statement. Remote Management System lets administrators monitor multiple TeraStations from a single console, cutting ongoing operational overhead. Two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports allow local backup targets or UPS connectivity without extra adapters.

Questions about this item

What network cables do I need to use the 10GbE and 1GbE ports?

Standard Cat6a or better Ethernet cables for the 10GbE port and Cat5e or better for the two 1GbE ports will provide full speed.

Can I add the OP-HD16.0N drives to an existing RAID array on this unit?

The four included 16TB drives arrive pre-configured in RAID; additional OP-HD16.0N drives can be used to expand or replace volumes through the management console.

Which front-panel LEDs confirm the 10GbE link is active?

The LAN LED labelled 10/100 shows link and activity for the 1GbE ports; the 10GbE port status is reported in the web dashboard rather than by a dedicated front LED.
