A tin-plated aluminium mechanical splice joining 250 to 750 kcmil aluminium or copper conductors, rated 600 V and 194 °F maximum temperature
The Burndy AMS750 is a mechanical connector designed to splice aluminum or copper conductors ranging from 250 kcmil to 750 kcmil. It provides four termination points for two conductors and features a tin-plated aluminum body with a hex socket head style. The connector is rated for a maximum voltage of 600 V.
Under continuous electrical load, the connector maintains a secure joint through its mechanical compression design. The tin-plated aluminum body resists oxidation at the contact surfaces to preserve conductivity over time. It is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 194 degrees F, which defines its thermal limit during sustained current flow.
Normal operation sees the connector body temperature rise with current flow up to the 194 degrees F limit. The aluminum construction dissipates heat from the joint area without active cooling. There are no moving parts or fans, so the device operates silently. Power draw is determined entirely by the circuit load up to the 600 V rating.
