Snapper Pin for Light-Duty Fastening

The Buyers Products Company 66064 Snapper Pin is a steel safety pin with a 1/4 inch diameter and 2-1/2 inch usable length. It features a zinc-plated finish for corrosion resistance and a square wire shape. The pin is made from Grade 1010/1020 steel and comes in a pack of two.

Suits Quick-Release Needs, Not Heavy Loads

This pin works well for temporary fastening, agricultural equipment, or trailer hitches where frequent removal is required. The snap mechanism allows tool-free installation and release. Builders who need a locking pin for high-vibration environments or a higher shear rating should look at a different style.

Handles Standard Clearances, Limited by Diameter

The 1/4 inch diameter fits common hole sizes and the 2-1/2 inch usable length spans typical bracket thicknesses. The 2.765 inch overall length provides grip room. The pin runs out of capacity when the hole exceeds the diameter or the required grip length surpasses the usable length.

Questions about this item

What hole diameter does the 1/4in pin require?

The pin diameter is 1/4in, so a matching 1/4in hole is needed.

Will the 2-1/2in usable length clear a 2in thick bracket?

Yes, the 2-1/2in usable length provides enough shank to pass through a 2in bracket and still engage the snap.

How can I confirm the zinc plated finish is intact after installation?

Inspect the pin for a uniform silver-grey coating with no bare steel showing at the ends or on the square wire.
