Active DisplayPort to HDMI Conversion

This CableCreation cable converts a DisplayPort output on a desktop, laptop or graphics card to an HDMI input on a monitor, HDTV or projector. It carries both audio and video in a single unidirectional link. The six-foot braided jacket protects the active electronics inside. Gold-plated connectors resist corrosion for a reliable signal path.

Unidirectional DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.0 Upgrade

The active design supports up to 4K at 60 Hz with HDR, plus 4K at 30 Hz, 2K at 144 Hz, 2K at 120 Hz and 1080p at 144 Hz. HDCP content protection is also handled. The jump from a passive adapter is worth it when the source is DisplayPort 1.4 and the display requires HDMI 2.0 bandwidth for high refresh rates or HDR metadata. It does not work in reverse from HDMI to DisplayPort.

Build Integration and Compatibility

Connect the DisplayPort plug to the host and the HDMI plug to the display; the special latch on the DP side secures the connection. Both the source and the sink must support the target resolution and refresh rate, and both must support HDR for that feature to function. The cable frees up a native HDMI port on the graphics card for another display. It is not suitable for users needing HDMI-to-DisplayPort conversion or passive-only cabling.

Questions about this item

Will the 6 ft braided cable reach from my desktop DisplayPort to a wall-mounted HDMI monitor?

The cable is 6 ft long with a braided jacket, giving enough slack for most desktop-to-monitor runs while resisting tangles.

Why does the DP connector have a latch, and do I need to press it to unplug?

The DisplayPort plug includes a latch that locks it in place; squeeze the latch release before pulling the cable out to avoid port damage.

How often should I replace this active DP-to-HDMI cable to keep 4K 60 Hz HDR working?

Active cables have no scheduled replacement interval; swap it only if you see signal drop-outs, flicker or physical connector wear.
