CableCreation USB-C to USB-B 15 ft

This new cable connects USB-C hosts such as MacBook Pro, Surface Book 2 and Chromebook Pixel to USB-B 2.0 peripherals. It serves printers, scanners, external hubs, hard drives and MIDI keyboards. Aluminium alloy shell and gold-plated plugs provide full shielding against EMI and RFI noise. The 4.5 metre length gives flexible placement for studio or office setups.

Suits users linking USB-C laptops to legacy USB-B

Buyers needing USB 3.0 or 3.1 speeds should look elsewhere because this cable is limited to USB 2.0. Users who want to connect an Android phone or tablet directly to a printer cannot use this cable. Builders requiring a shorter or longer run must choose a different length.

480 Mbps USB 2.0 data rate decides fit

The link tops out at 480 Mbps, equal to 60 MBps, which is the maximum throughput for USB 2.0 devices. If the peripheral or workflow demands higher bandwidth this cable will bottleneck performance. Verify the required speed before purchase.

Questions about this item

What USB-C host device do I need to connect this cable to?

Connect the USB-C plug to a Type-C laptop or PC such as a MacBook Pro 13/15/16, iMac 2017, Dell XPS 13/15, Surface Book 2 or Chromebook Pixel; Android phones and tablets will not work as hosts.

Will this cable run at USB 2.0 speeds with my older USB-B 2.0 printer or MIDI keyboard?

Yes, the USB-B 2.0 plug is the target side and the cable supports USB 2.0 data transfer up to 480 Mbps (60 MBps) with legacy printers, hubs, hard drives and MIDI controllers.

How can I verify the cable is delivering the rated 480 Mbps after I plug it in?

Check the host OS reports a USB 2.0 connection at 480 Mbps and confirm stable data transfer or MIDI sync without dropouts; the gold-plated plugs and fully shielded PVC jacket maintain signal integrity over the 4.5 m length.
