Mini DP to DisplayPort 8K cable
This Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable connects laptops or desktops with a Mini DP output to monitors, TVs or projectors with a full-size DisplayPort input. It supports bi-directional transmission so the same cable works from a DisplayPort source to a Mini DP display when the monitor port accepts video input. Compatible with Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2 ports on MacBook series laptops.
DisplayPort 1.4 with 32.4 Gbps bandwidth
The cable is built to the DisplayPort 1.4 specification and carries up to 32.4 Gbps of bandwidth. That single link bandwidth determines whether an 8K or high-refresh 4K signal can pass without compression or chroma subsampling.
8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 144 Hz headroom
Maximum supported resolution is 7680 x 4320 at 60 Hz, while 3840 x 2160 reaches 144 Hz for smoother motion. The 2 metre length handles these rates comfortably; longer runs or higher refresh at 8K would exceed the available bandwidth.

Questions about this item
What does 8K at 60 Hz actually deliver on my screen?
The cable carries a 7680 x 4320 signal at 60 frames per second, giving a full 8K picture on a compatible monitor without scaling.
How does the DisplayPort 1.4 link limit what I can run?
The 32.4 Gbps bandwidth caps the maximum timing to 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz, so higher refresh rates at 8K or uncompressed 4K above 144 Hz are not possible.
Will the Mini DisplayPort and full-size DisplayPort ends fit my laptop and monitor?
One end is a Mini DisplayPort plug for Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2 ports on MacBooks, the other is a standard DisplayPort plug for 8K monitors, TVs or projectors.
