Compact USB-C dock for mobile workstations

The Cables To Go 28845 adds video, wired networking and extra ports through a single reversible USB-C connection while delivering up to 60W of power to the host laptop or tablet. It suits professionals who need a lightweight hub for hot-desking or travel.

4K 30 Hz video and Gigabit Ethernet headroom

HDMI bandwidth reaches 18Gbps and supports 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz with HDCP 1.4/2.2 compliance for protected content. The RJ45 port provides a stable Gigabit link, while two USB 3.0 ports and two USB-C ports run at 5Gbps and 10Gbps respectively; bandwidth above these rates is not available.

Passive cooling keeps operation silent

With no moving parts the unit runs completely quiet and draws only the power required for connected peripherals plus the 60W charging path. The 0.25 kg black enclosure stays cool during typical office workloads, though sustained maximum throughput on every port simultaneously will raise surface temperature.

Questions about this item

Will the 28845 docking station work with my older USB 2.0 peripherals?

Yes, the two USB 3.0 Type-A ports are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 devices, so existing keyboards, mice or drives will connect without an adapter.

How can I verify the HDMI output is running at 4K 30 Hz after I connect my monitor?

Open your operating system display settings and confirm the external monitor shows 3840 x 2160 resolution at 30 Hz; the dock’s HDMI port supports up to 18 Gbps bandwidth and HDCP 1.4/2.2 for protected content.

Does the 28845 come with a USB-C host cable and do I need a separate power brick?

The dock includes a tethered USB-C host cable for the laptop connection; it draws charging power from the laptop’s own USB-C charger via the upstream USB-C Power Delivery port, so no extra power supply is required.
