Single-Gang Wall Plate for In-Wall AV

This single-gang wall plate bridges HDMI, VGA, 3.5 mm stereo audio and USB connections through a wall cavity. It is designed for installers and homeowners who want a tidy, permanent interface for meeting-room displays, classroom projectors or residential media centres.

Thermals, Noise and Power Draw

The plate is a passive mechanical component with no active electronics, so it generates no heat, produces no audible noise and draws no electrical power in normal use. Signal integrity depends entirely on the quality and length of the cables connected on either side.

Aluminium Build and Connector Layout

Aircraft-grade aluminium construction gives the plate a rigid, professional finish that resists flex during cable insertion. The HDMI port includes a thin, flexible pigtail to satisfy tight bend-radius requirements inside a standard junction box. USB-B on the rear and USB-A on the front support passive extensions up to five metres; longer runs require an active solution not supplied with the plate. Installers needing additional connector types or a double-gang form factor will need a different product.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the Cables To Go 39706 wall plate and route the HDMI pigtail inside a standard junction box?

Fasten the single-gang plate to the box with the included screws, then fold the thin flexible HDMI pigtail gently to match the tight bend radius without kinking it.

Will the USB pass-through need an active extender if my cable run exceeds five metres?

Yes, the USB-B to USB-A pass-through supports passive cables up to five metres total; longer runs require an active USB extension solution.

What is the first limitation I will hit when pushing 4K video through the HDMI pass-through continuously?

The thin pigtail’s bend-radius design and passive construction set the practical signal-quality limit before any active circuitry would.
