The Cameron & Co DS-CS-BP827 replaces Canon BP-820 and BP-827 packs in a long list of Vixia and Legria models including the HF G10, HF G20, HF G30, HF M30, HF M40, HF S10, HF S20, HF S30, HF10, HF20, XA10, XA20, XA25 and XA30. It fits the same slot and communicates with the camera firmware so remaining capacity is reported accurately. No adapter or firmware update is required.

Lithium-ion power pack

The cell chemistry is lithium-ion rated at 7.4 volts and 2.6 ampere-hours, delivering 19.24 watt-hours of energy. Physical size is 59.02 by 40.16 by 30.52 millimetres, matching the original battery compartment. The pack is black and weighs the same as the OEM unit so balance on a gimbal or shoulder rig is unchanged.

Sustained recording performance

Under continuous video capture the voltage curve stays flat for most of the discharge, giving predictable run-time per charge. The fully decoded design prevents sudden shutdown caused by communication errors during long takes. The battery is not suited for applications that demand higher capacity than 2600 milliampere-hours or voltages other than 7.4 volts.
