Cameron & Co GPS Battery for BIRDOG Plus

This replacement battery powers BIRDOG Plus satellite signal meters and USB Plus models. It delivers 7.2 volts and 3000 milliampere-hours of nickel-metal-hydride capacity in a blue housing. The pack is 100 percent OEM compatible and ships brand new.

Thermals noise and power draw

Nickel-metal-hydride chemistry provides stable output during extended field sessions without the thermal spikes seen in some lithium packs. Self-discharge is low enough for intermittent use across multiple job sites. No active cooling is required.

Upgrade path and when to switch

This unit replaces worn or lost BP7233-2 cells and restores full runtime to compatible meters. The jump is worth it when the original pack no longer holds a charge through a complete survey day. It is not for users needing higher voltage or lithium energy density.

Questions about this item

How do I install the battery in the BIRDOG Plus meter and which step is often missed?

Slide the pack into the compartment until the latch clicks; the step users skip is verifying the contacts align with the 7.2 V terminals before closing the cover.

What maintenance will this Ni-MH pack need over its life?

Expect to recharge after each field day; if capacity drops below usable levels, replace the pack — Ni-MH cells are not user-serviceable.

What limit appears first during a long survey session with the BIRDOG Plus?

The 21.60 Wh capacity sets the runtime ceiling; sustained RF reception will drain the 3000 mAh pack before thermal limits become an issue.
