The Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM is a high-performance lens aimed at professionals and enthusiasts. EF mount limits use to compatible bodies

This lens fits only cameras with a Canon EF mount. The rotating zoom system and inner focusing mechanism keep the front element stationary during focusing, which allows easy use of circular polarising filters. A focus range limiter switch helps speed up autofocus acquisition by restricting the search distance. The diaphragm uses eight rounded blades for smooth background rendering.

70-200mm range with f/4 constant aperture

The 70-200mm focal length covers a diagonal angle of view from 34 to 12 degrees, suitable for sports, wildlife and portrait work. Minimum focus distance is 3.90ft, allowing reasonably close subject isolation. The aperture stops down to f/32 for extended depth of field when needed. At 200mm the fixed f/4 aperture gathers less light than f/2.8 alternatives, limiting low-light handheld use.
