Canon EF 12 II Extension Tube for Close
This Canon extension tube increases magnification by moving the lens 12 mm farther from the sensor. It suits photographers using EOS digital or film SLR cameras who want closer focusing distances for macro or telephoto work. Auto-focus and electronic aperture control remain fully operational. The redesigned barrel accepts EF-S lenses with extended rear elements as well as all EF and TS-E optics.
Check Lens Mount Compatibility Before Buying
Verify that your lenses use the Canon EF or EF-S mount and that their rear elements do not protrude beyond the tube’s inner diameter. The accessory is built for Canon SLR bodies only and will not fit mirrorless RF or EF-M mounts without a separate adapter. Confirm your camera can meter and focus at the reduced working distances this tube creates.
Replaces the Original EF 12 Tube with EF-S Support
This version supersedes the earlier 12 mm tube by adding clearance for EF-S lenses while keeping the same 12 mm and 25 mm length options. The upgrade is worthwhile if you own EF-S glass that would not mount on the previous model. It also pairs with a 75 - 300 mm telephoto zoom to fill the frame at distances of ten to fifteen feet.

Questions about this item
Does the Canon EF 12 II Extension Tube 9198A001 come with lens caps or a case, or must they be purchased separately?
The tube is supplied as a single unit without caps or a case; any protective accessories must be bought separately.
Should I choose the 12 mm EF 12 II or the 25 mm version for general close-up work?
The 12 mm tube gives moderate magnification and keeps more working distance, while the 25 mm version provides greater magnification at the cost of less light and shorter working distance.
What does the 12 mm length mean for magnification when the tube is mounted on a camera?
The 12 mm extension moves the lens farther from the sensor, reducing minimum focus distance and increasing magnification roughly in proportion to the added extension divided by the lens focal length.
