The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is a professional standard zoom lens built for Canon EOS DSLRs. Its constant f/2.8 maximum aperture covers the 24 to 70 mm focal range on full-frame 35 mm sensors and on APS-C bodies. The optical design uses 18 elements in 13 groups, including one Super UD element, two UD elements and three aspherical elements. A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives fast, silent autofocus with full-time manual override.

Weather-Sealed Construction for Harsh Environments

Dust- and water-resistant seals protect the barrel during outdoor and event work. Super Spectra and fluorine coatings reduce flare, ghosting and smudges on the front and rear surfaces. The inner-focusing mechanism keeps the lens length constant while focusing, so the balance does not shift during operation. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm produces smooth background rendition across the aperture range from f/2.8 to f/22.

82 mm Filter Thread and Rotating Zoom Ring

An 82 mm front thread accepts standard screw-in filters without vignetting at the wide end. The rotating zoom ring moves smoothly through the 24 to 70 mm range, while the minimum focus distance of 0.38 m (1.25 ft) delivers 0.21x maximum magnification for close-up detail. The lens mounts directly to any Canon EF-mount body, requiring no adapter for full-frame or APS-C formats.
