Portrait prime with stabilisation

The Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM is a short telephoto prime built for portrait work. Its wide f/1.4 aperture creates shallow depth of field and strong low-light performance. The bundle adds a 77mm filter kit, cap keeper and cleaning kit for immediate use. L-series construction brings weather-resistant sealing and premium optical materials.

Sustained handheld shooting

A four stop-effective optical image stabilisation system counters camera shake during longer handheld sessions. The ring-type Ultrasonic Motor delivers quiet, accurate autofocus without hunting. Full-time manual focus override allows instant fine adjustments while AF remains active. Air Sphere coating maintains contrast when shooting toward light sources for extended periods.

85mm focal length decides fit

The fixed 85mm field of view suits head-and-shoulders portraits on full-frame bodies. Buyers needing wider environmental coverage or tighter compression must choose a different focal length. The EF mount targets Canon DSLR systems, not RF mirrorless bodies. The 77mm filter thread accepts the included filter kit and standard accessories.

Questions about this item

Does the 85mm f/1.4L IS USM lens generate noticeable heat during all-day portrait sessions?

The lens has no active electronics that produce heat; only the camera body may warm up with extended use.

Which camera mount must the buyer already own for this EF-mount prime to attach and autofocus?

A Canon EOS body with an EF mount is required; EF-S and EF-M bodies need an adapter, and RF bodies need the EF-EOS R adapter.

Will the 77mm filter kit and ET-83E hood fit together on the lens without vignetting on a full-frame sensor?

Yes, the 77mm thread accepts the filters and the ET-83E hood mounts over them, designed for full-frame coverage at 85mm.
