Dedicated lens hood for EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

The Canon EW-73D is a dedicated lens hood designed specifically for the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens. It attaches securely to the front of the lens to block stray light from entering the optics. Photographers using this zoom lens will find it essential for maintaining image contrast. The hood also serves as a physical barrier against accidental bumps and scratches.

Consistent flare reduction across the zoom range

Because the hood is matched to the 18-135mm focal length range, it prevents vignetting at the wide end while shielding the front element at 135 mm. Stray light is blocked continuously whether shooting at 18 mm or zoomed in to 135 mm. This ensures consistent contrast and colour saturation throughout the entire zoom operation. The petal-shaped design maximises coverage without intruding into the frame corners.

Replaces lost or damaged original hoods

This hood replaces the original EW-73D supplied with the lens if it has been lost or cracked. It restores the flare protection and impact shielding the lens was designed to have. The upgrade is worth it whenever the front element is exposed to direct sunlight or tight shooting environments. Without a hood, the lens remains vulnerable to glare and physical damage.

Questions about this item

Does the 0.11 kg weight add noticeable heat or power draw during all-day shoots?

The hood is a passive accessory weighing 0.11 kg; it has no electronics, draws no power and generates no heat regardless of how long you use it.

Which lens must I already own for the EW-73D to fit and function?

It is dedicated to the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens; the hood mounts directly to that lens's front thread.

Will the hood vignette or interfere if I keep using my older EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM copy?

The EW-73D is designed specifically for that exact lens model, so it aligns correctly without vignetting or mechanical conflict.
