2x Teleconverter for RF Lenses

The Canon Extender RF 2x doubles the focal length of compatible RF-mount lenses while preserving full electronic communication. Metering, autofocus and image stabilisation remain active, and Exif data is transmitted normally. Dust and water resistance plus a heat shield exterior protect the optics during outdoor use. It is built for photographers who need extra reach on supported telephoto lenses.

Cap Keeper and Cleaning Kit Extras

The bundle adds a lens cap keeper that secures the extender cap during shooting, reducing the chance of losing it in the field. A cleaning kit supplies the basic tools to remove dust and smudges from glass surfaces before and after sessions. Together they keep the extender ready for use without extra purchases.

Mounting and Compatibility Limits

The extender attaches like a standard RF lens between the camera body and a supported optic, so installation is straightforward for anyone familiar with the mount. Autofocus and stabilisation function normally on the listed lenses, though the RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM can only be used within the 300-500mm range. Lenses outside the supported list will not communicate or focus correctly.

Questions about this item

Will the Extender RF 2x need periodic seal replacement to stay dust and water resistant?

The extender has a dust and water resistant construction with a heat shield exterior; no user-serviceable seals are mentioned, so normal care keeps it functional.

What aperture loss appears first when shooting continuously with the 2x magnification factor?

The 2x magnification reduces effective aperture by two stops, so an f/5.6 lens becomes f/11 and an f/4.5 lens becomes f/9, limiting low-light autofocus first.

Does the heat shield exterior keep the extender cool enough for all-day wildlife sessions?

The heat shield exterior is designed to maintain optimal performance in varied conditions, helping manage temperature during extended use.
