Compact travel camera

The Canon IXY 650 is a pocket-sized digital camera designed for casual photographers who want a dedicated device for everyday moments and travel. It suits users who prefer physical zoom over smartphone cropping and value simple wireless sharing.

12× zoom with 20.2 MP sensor

The 12x optical zoom covers wide-angle to telephoto framing without digital interpolation, while the 20.2 megapixel CMOS sensor captures detailed stills. Auto zoom adjusts the focal length to keep subjects framed. Low-light performance will be limited by the small sensor size.

Wi-Fi and NFC sharing

Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC allow quick image transfer to a smart device for social posting or backup. The camera is intended for the Japanese market, so menus and documentation are in Japanese only. It operates on 100 V power, so a transformer is required for use elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the IXY 650 connect to my older laptop over Wi-Fi for photo transfer?

The IXY 650 supports Wi-Fi and NFC pairing, so it can link to a laptop that has built-in Wi-Fi or an NFC reader; no special legacy protocol is required.

How do I confirm the 12x optical zoom and 20.2MP sensor are working after setup?

Take a test shot at full zoom and check the image properties — the file should show 20.2 megapixels and the lens should extend through the full 12x range smoothly.

What ships with the IXY 650 and what must I source separately?

The box contains the camera body, battery, charger, wrist strap and Japanese manual; you will need to buy an SD memory card and, if your mains voltage is not 100V, a step-down transformer.
