Designed for EF 35mm f/1.4L

The Canon EW-78C lens hood is made specifically for the EF 35mm f/1.4L lens. It attaches securely to the front of that optic to block stray light and shield the glass. Photographers using this focal length gain a dedicated accessory that matches the lens profile exactly.

Limits of stray-light control

A hood only stops light that enters from outside the angle of view; it cannot remove flare caused by bright sources inside the frame. The petal shape is optimised for the 35mm field on a full-frame sensor, so vignetting is avoided at the corners. It does not replace a filter for creative effects or additional optical protection.

Check mount and filter thread before ordering

Verify that your lens is the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L and not a similar focal length with a different hood bayonet. The EW-78C locks onto the dedicated hood mount on that specific model. If you use a protective filter, ensure its rim does not prevent the hood from seating fully.
