Genuine Canon PG-243 Black Ink Cartridge

This genuine Canon PG-243 pigment black ink cartridge uses FINE nozzle engineering to produce crisp, smudge-resistant text. It is rated for approximately 180 pages and works with the PIXMA IP2820, MX492, MG2420, MG2520, MG2525, MG2924, MG2920, MG3020 and MG2922 printers. The cartridge is new and manufactured by Canon Inc under part number 1287C001.

Inkjet printing with no thermal or noise concerns

Inkjet cartridges generate no measurable heat, fan noise or power draw during normal printing. The PG-243 simply delivers pigment black ink through the print head, so operation stays silent and cool. There are no thermal limits or acoustic ratings to consider for this consumable.

Replaces standard PG-245 cartridges for the same

This PG-243 directly replaces the standard-capacity PG-245 black cartridge in every compatible PIXMA model listed. The jump is worth it when you want the genuine Canon formulation and the 180-page yield without moving to an XL version. It is not for users who need colour output or higher page volumes per cartridge.

Questions about this item

How do I install the PG-243 cartridge in my PIXMA MG2520, and what step do people often miss?

Open the front cover, wait for the holder to centre, remove the orange tape and protective film completely, then push the cartridge firmly until it clicks; the step most often missed is peeling off the film before insertion.

What maintenance or replacement will the PG-243 cartridge need after its 180-page yield is used?

Once the 180-page yield is reached, replace the PG-243 cartridge with a new genuine Canon PG-243 or high-capacity PG-245XL; no separate printhead cleaning kit is required because the printhead is built into the cartridge.

What limit appears first when printing continuously with the PG-243 in a PIXMA MX492?

The 180-page rated yield is the first limit; after those pages the pigment black ink runs out and the printer stops until the cartridge is replaced.
