Wide-Angle Prime for Hybrid Creators

The Canon RF 24mm f/1.4 L VCM is a fast, wide-angle prime lens built for full-frame RF-mount mirrorless cameras. It suits photographers and videographers who need a bright aperture for low-light scenes and a 24mm field of view for landscapes, astrophotography or environmental portraits. The L-series build and included 67mm filter kit add professional durability and creative flexibility out of the box.

Bright f/1.4 Aperture with 11-Blade Diaphragm

The maximum f/1.4 aperture gathers ample light for handheld shooting in dim conditions and produces smooth, rounded bokeh thanks to its 11-blade diaphragm. Optical headroom comes from two ultra-low dispersion elements and one aspherical element that suppress chromatic aberration and distortion. Performance tapers off when stopping down beyond the diffraction limit or when subjects fall closer than the 9.4-inch minimum focus distance.

RF Mount with VCM and Nano USM Focus

The RF mount enables fast communication between lens and camera for precise, near-silent autofocus driven by a Voice Coil Motor and Nano USM. A manual iris ring and AF/MF switch give tactile control for video exposure pulls, while a programmable function button adapts to individual workflows. The rear filter holder accepts gel filters, and the fluorine coating on the front element resists dust and moisture during demanding shoots.

Questions about this item

Will the 24mm f/1.4 lens focus silently on my older R or R6 body for video?

The Voice Coil Motor and Nano USM deliver near-silent autofocus on all RF-mount cameras, making the lens suitable for video on earlier bodies.

How can I confirm the VCM focus is operating correctly after mounting the lens?

Engage AF and listen for silent, smooth focus pulls; the 11-blade diaphragm should stop down cleanly at f/1.4, and the focus-distance scale will show 9.4 inches at minimum focus.

Does the kit include a hood and filters, or must I buy a 67mm circular polariser separately?

The box contains the RF 24mm f/1.4 L VCM lens, EW-73G hood, E-67 II cap, RF dust cap, LP1219 soft case, a 3-piece 67mm filter kit and a cleaning kit — no extra filter purchase is required.
