Compact RF-S zoom for APS-C video

The Canon RF-S 14-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM PZ Lens is built as the kit zoom for the R50 V mirrorless camera and works on any RF-mount body. Its power-zoom mechanism and built-in stabiliser are tuned for smooth, quiet video recording. A lead-screw STM autofocus motor keeps continuous focus responsive while staying silent. The optical design uses two aspherical elements, an ultra-low dispersion element and Super Spectra Coating to control aberrations, ghosting and flare.

Replaces fixed focal-length primes

Swapping a single prime for this zoom adds a 22-48mm equivalent range without changing lenses, useful when shooting in tight spaces where moving backwards is not an option. The variable aperture of f/4.5-6.3 means the jump is worth it when you need framing flexibility more than low-light speed. Builders who need a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range or full-frame image-circle coverage will not find that here.

Covers wide-angle to short telephoto

At the wide end the lens delivers a 22mm equivalent view for interiors and vlogging, while the long end reaches a 48mm equivalent for tighter portraits. Minimum focus distance of 5.9 inches allows close-up detail work. The maximum aperture narrows to f/36 at the smallest setting, giving deep depth of field when stopped down. Buyers who want more reach beyond 48mm equivalent or a wider maximum aperture for shallow depth of field will need a different optic.
