Smart travel charger with USB

The Carrera V3299USB is a compact NiMH charger that accepts two or four AA or AAA cells and includes eight AAA Accupower batteries rated at 1200 mAh. It operates on 100 to 240 V AC input, making it suitable for international travel. The built-in USB port supplies 5 V at 500 mA for phones or media players when no cells are charging.

Plug-in convenience with safety limits

Flip-out prongs plug directly into a wall outlet with no separate cable required. Red LEDs show quick-charge status, flash for bad-cell detection and turn off when charging finishes; a green LED confirms the USB port is active. Reverse-polarity protection and temperature sensors guard against overheating, while the smart system stops charging automatically to prevent overcharge. The USB socket works only when the unit is on AC power and no batteries are being charged.

Steady output within rated current

Under continuous use the charger delivers 600 mA per AA slot and 350 mA per AAA slot, with a total AC draw of 9.5 W. The USB output maintains 500 mA as long as the load stays within that limit. Thermal sensors throttle operation if internal temperature rises, so sustained sessions stay within safe boundaries without user intervention.
