  • Clip-on design fits most caps for hands-free use

  • 25x magnification reveals fine fly-tying detail
  • +5.00 diopter power matches close-up work needs
  • Acrylic lenses give sharp, distortion-free viewing

Clip-on magnifiers for fly-tying

The Carson VM-14 clips to the brim of most caps and hats, giving hands-free magnification while you tie flies or change tippets. The 2.25 x power is equivalent to a +5.00 diopter lens for close-up work. Acrylic lenses provide a sharp, distortion-free view of fine details. Anglers who need both hands free for delicate tasks will find them useful.

Protective soft pouch included

A soft pouch ships with the magnifiers to protect the acrylic lenses from scratches when stored in a tackle box or pocket. The pouch adds no extra magnification or optical function. It simply keeps the clip-on unit clean and ready for the next session. Buyers who want a hard case or built-in illumination will not find those here.

Simple brim attachment

The clip slides onto a standard cap brim and the lenses flip up when not needed, so installation takes seconds with no tools. The spring tension holds the unit in place during normal casting and tying movements. Very thick or unusually shaped brims may not grip securely. Users who wear hats without a firm brim cannot use this mounting method.

Questions about this item

Will the acrylic lenses need replacement if they become scratched?

The lenses are made of crystal-clear acrylic that provides a distortion-free view, but acrylic can scratch more easily than glass, so careful storage in the supplied soft pouch is recommended.

At what point does the 2.25x magnification become tiring during long fly-tying sessions?

The fixed 2.25x power (+5.00 diopter) requires the eyes to accommodate at a close working distance, so visual fatigue typically appears after extended periods of detailed work.

Do the clip-on magnifiers feel heavy or hot on the cap brim after a full day of fishing?

The lightweight acrylic lenses and simple clip add minimal weight to the brim and generate no heat, so they remain comfortable during all-day wear.
