What this printer does

The CASIO B1 is a direct-thermal barcode and label printer that ships with three tape rolls. It prints without ink or toner and connects to phones via Bluetooth using the NIIMBOT app or to a PC over USB with a driver install. The unit weighs 0.658 kilograms and measures 14.33in W x 12.83in H x 9.06in D.

Print width and media handling

The device prints on labels from 20 mm to 50 mm wide and automatically rewinds the backing paper after each job. Included media are one white 50×30 mm roll, one white 50×80 mm roll and one white round 50×50 mm roll, covering rectangular and circular formats.

Who this suits and who it does not

Small businesses, bakeries, jewellery makers and home organisers who need portable, ink-free labelling will find the template library and batch-print function useful. Buyers who need wider labels than 50 mm, colour printing or a built-in keyboard and display should look at a different class of machine.

Questions about this item

What does the 50 mm print width mean when I am printing labels?

The printer can produce labels up to 50 mm wide, so any label design must fit within that width.

How does the USB connection limit what I can do with the printer?

The USB link lets you edit and print from a computer after installing the driver, but it does not support wireless printing on its own.

What space do I need on a desk for the 14.33 in wide unit?

Allow at least 14.33 inches of horizontal space and 12.83 inches of depth for the printer itself.
