An 11-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope on a computerized German equatorial mount with a 30 lb capacity, StarBright XLT coatings and a deluxe accessory kit
The Celestron Advanced VX 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope is a computerized German equatorial system designed for serious visual astronomy and entry-level astroimaging. Its 11-inch aperture gathers 41% more light than a 9.25" model, revealing bright, detailed views of the Moon, planets, and deep-sky objects. The package includes a NexStar+ hand control with a 40,000+ object database and a Deluxe Accessory Kit with five Plossl eyepieces, a 1.25" Barlow lens, and a filter set.
The Advanced VX mount supports up to 30 lbs of equipment, providing a rigid platform for the optical tube and accessories. Assembly requires mounting the optical tube onto the equatorial head and balancing both axes carefully to ensure accurate GoTo slewing. First-time users often underestimate the time needed for precise polar alignment; rushing this step causes tracking drift that ruins long-exposure imaging. The NexStar+ hand control simplifies alignment with SkyAlign, but the USB port and PWI software require a laptop for advanced control.
Verify that your observing site has a clear view of the celestial pole for polar alignment, as the equatorial mount depends on it for tracking accuracy. Ensure you have a stable, level surface for the included tripod, as vibration degrades high-magnification views. Confirm you can transport and lift the 11-inch optical tube and mount components, which constitute a substantial load. The 1.25" accessory format matches the included diagonal and eyepieces; 2" accessories are not supported by the supplied hardware.

Use the NexStar+ hand control to select a bright star from its 40,000+ object database, centre it in the 40 mm eyepiece, and verify it remains centred without drift.
The kit supplies five 1.25" Plössl eyepieces, a 1.25" Barlow lens, a 1.25" filter set, and a carry case; the telescope also ships with a 40 mm eyepiece, 90° diagonal, tripod, and NexStar+ hand control.
The 11" optical tube gathers 41% more light than the 9.25" version, so galaxies and nebulae appear significantly brighter and more detailed.
