152mm f/2.2 Observatory Kit
The Celestron Origin Mark II is an intelligent home observatory that combines a 152mm aperture Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph with an integrated Sony IMX678 colour CMOS sensor. It is designed for backyard astronomers who want automated GoTo tracking and live image stacking on a mobile device without assembling separate components. The system includes a full-height tripod, mount, camera, nebulae filter and control accessories in one package.
8.3-megapixel sensor and 474x light grasp
The 3856 x 2180 pixel sensor provides a 0.35-inch diagonal imaging area behind the fast f/2.2 optical system, delivering a wide field of view with sharpness to the edge. StarBright XLT coatings boost transmission so the telescope gathers 474 times more light than the unaided eye, making faint nebulae and galaxies visible in short exposures. Very small planetary targets or extremely narrow-field research projects will exceed the practical resolution and field limits of this platform.
Nebulae filter and app control included
The supplied nebulae filter blocks common light-pollution wavelengths to improve contrast on emission nebulae straight out of the box. A Raspberry Pi 4 Model B computer runs the onboard software, allowing wireless control from iOS 16 or Android 12 devices via the Celestron Origin App for alignment, object selection and image processing. No separate guide camera, laptop or external power supply is included, so users needing advanced autoguiding or extended off-grid sessions must add those items themselves.

Questions about this item
How does the 152mm f/2.2 Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph work with my existing eyepieces?
The Origin Mark II uses a prime-focus imaging design with the Sony IMX678 sensor at the front of the tube; it does not accept standard eyepieces for visual use.
How can I confirm the Sony IMX678 sensor and GoTo mount are working correctly after setup?
Use the Celestron Origin App on iOS 16+ or Android 12+ to run the alignment routine; a successful star capture and live stacked image on your device confirm operation.
What comes in the box with the Observatory Kit and what must I buy separately?
The kit includes the Origin Mark II observatory, Nebulae Filter, Origin 678C camera, lens shade, mount, full-height tripod with brace and bubble level, clutch knobs, and AUX port; a compatible smartphone or tablet is required separately.
