70V/100V Ceiling Tile Speaker 8

This CELUX drop-in speaker fits standard US 2 x 2 foot ceiling grids and arrives pre-mounted in a tile. The wired unit handles 30W RMS at 8 ohms and offers 70V or 100V line operation with selectable taps at 10W, 5W, 2.5W, and 1.5W. A metal grille protects the 8-inch paper-cone driver.

Multi-tap line-voltage upgrade

It replaces individual ceiling speakers and separate transformers by integrating the driver, tile, and multi-tap transformer in one assembly. The jump is worth it when a project needs quick installation without cutting tiles or wiring external transformers, and when 70V or 100V distributed audio is already specified.

Offices needing paging and background music

The 105° dispersion and 91 dB sensitivity suit speech, announcements, and low-level music in open-plan areas. Buyers who require deep bass extension below 170 Hz or high-output main PA coverage should look at dedicated subwoofers or larger cabinet speakers instead.

Questions about this item

Will the 23.8-inch square tile fit my standard US 2-by-2 drop-ceiling grid?

Yes — the unit measures 23.8 × 23.8 inches, matching the standard US 2 ft × 2 ft grid opening exactly.

Which tap do I select on the transformer for a 70 V line, and what mistake should I avoid?

Choose the 10 W, 5 W, 2.5 W or 1.5 W tap that matches your design wattage; the common error is leaving the selector on the 8 Ω position when driving a 70 V line.

When will the 10 oz ferrite magnet or paper cone need attention?

Under normal indoor use the magnet and cone are maintenance-free; only inspect if output drops or distortion appears after years of service.
