Replacement battery for Oregon Scientific scanners

The Centenex Electronics DS-CS-OST928BL is a 3.6V 350mAh Ni-MH battery built to fit Oregon Scientific STR918, STR928, STR938 and STR968 barcode scanners. It replaces part numbers 25AAH3BMX-2 and CUSTOM-178 and ships new in green.

Simple drop-in swap with correct polarity

Installation requires opening the scanner battery compartment and inserting the pack in the same orientation as the original cell. The 42.67 x 17.56 x 14.32 mm form factor matches the factory cavity, so no modification is needed. The only common issue is reversed polarity if the connector is forced in backwards.

Ni-MH chemistry limits runtime and charge speed

The 0.35 Ah capacity provides a finite scan session before recharging is required, and nickel-metal hydride cells self-discharge faster than lithium types when the scanner sits idle. The pack accepts standard Ni-MH charge currents only; fast-charge or lithium-specific chargers will damage it.
