Handcrafted 16-Inch Wooden Chess Set

This 16-inch wooden chess set includes 32 handcrafted pieces and a folding board made from beech and birch. It is designed for two players aged 16 and above who enjoy classic strategy games. The bronze-coloured pieces are weighted with felt bottoms for stable play on the 2-inch squares.

Folding Board with Integrated Storage

The board measures 40.7 by 40.7 by 2.5 centimetres and folds in half, secured by two brass clasps. Formed compartments inside the folded board hold every piece individually, removing the need for a separate box. No assembly or batteries are required before the first game.

Durable Materials for Repeated Use

Hornbeam and sycamore construction resists wear during regular indoor sessions. Weighted pieces stay in place if the surface is bumped, while felt bases protect the board finish over time. The compact 16-inch footprint fits on standard tables without permanent installation.

Questions about this item

How does the 16 inch board handle being left folded for weeks at a time?

The board folds to 16 x 16 x 0.04 inches and is held shut by two brass clasps, so it stays flat and protected during long storage.

Does the bronze finish on the pieces wear off after daily play?

The chessmen are made from hornbeam and sycamore wood with a bronze colour; they have felt bases that reduce surface friction during moves.

What else do I need to start a two-player game right away?

The set includes 32 wooden chess pieces and the folding board, so no extra components are required for two players.
