Drills 25/64 inch holes with a 135-degree split point in high-speed steel
The Chicago-Latrobe 45625 is a jobber length drill bit made from high speed steel with a black oxide finish. Its 135 degree split point design reduces walking and starts holes cleanly without a centre punch. The fractional 25/64 inch size suits general purpose drilling in metal, wood and plastic for trade and maintenance tasks.
This bit upgrades from worn standard points that wander on hard surfaces or from smaller diameters when a 0.3906 inch hole is required. The split point geometry makes the jump worthwhile for repetitive drilling where accurate starts save time. It is not suited for coolant through applications or for drilling depths beyond standard jobber length.

The bit has a 25/64 inch diameter shank, so it needs a chuck that opens to at least .3906 inches. Most 3/8" or 1/2" drill chucks will accept it.
The 135-degree split point is self-centering. Apply steady pressure and let the point bite before increasing speed; do not use a centre punch or pilot hole, as that defeats the split-point geometry.
