Chicago-Latrobe 47301 6.50 mm Jobber Drill Bit

This Chicago-Latrobe 47301 drill bit is a jobber-length tool made from high-speed steel with a black oxide finish. It has a 6.50 mm diameter and a 0.2559 inch decimal equivalent. The bit uses a conventional 118-degree point angle for general-purpose drilling.

Suited for general metal, wood and plastic drilling

The 118-degree point works well in softer materials and standard steel. Buyers needing a split-point design for reduced walking or a different point angle for harder alloys should select a different bit. Those requiring coolant-through capability or a specialized coating must look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How does the 6.50 mm diameter translate when the bit is chucked in a standard drill?

The 6.50 mm shank fits any three-jaw chuck that accepts metric sizes up to that diameter, giving a true 6.50 mm hole without stepping down.

What does the 118 degree point angle limit in everyday drilling?

The 118 degree conventional point centres quickly in mild steel and wood but walks on harder alloys unless a centre punch is used first.
