Chicago-Latrobe 69889 15-piece drill bit set

The Chicago-Latrobe 69889 set supplies 15 high-speed steel drill bits with a 135-degree split point. It is built for machinists and maintenance technicians who need reliable screw-machine length bits for daily metalworking tasks.

Black oxide high-speed steel construction

The bits are made from high-speed steel with a black oxide finish that resists corrosion and reduces chip welding. The 135-degree split point starts on contact and minimises wandering, so each hole begins cleanly without a centre punch.

Replaces worn fractional-inch sets

This kit replaces incomplete or dull fractional-inch collections by covering sizes from 1/16 inch through 1/2 inch in consistent increments. The jump is worth it when a shop needs a full range of screw-machine length bits ready for immediate use.

Questions about this item

What drill-point angle does the 135-degree split-point design use for self-centring?

The set uses a 135-degree split point that centres itself on contact and reduces walking on hard materials.

What size range must my drill chuck accommodate for the largest bit in this 15-piece set?

The largest bit is 1/2 inch, so the chuck must open to at least 1/2 inch capacity.

How do I seat each high-speed steel bit so the split point engages properly?

Insert the bit fully into the chuck, tighten securely, and start drilling at low speed to let the split point bite before increasing pressure.
