Direct replacement for ERC-18 printers

The Ci Inks CIM5552 is a purple nylon ribbon built to match OEM part 5552. It fits Epson ERC-18 impact printers and ships new in sealed packaging. Shops, warehouses and offices that run multi-part forms use it to keep legacy hardware printing.

Single ribbon cartridge replaces the OEM consumable

No drivers, software or extra hardware are bundled. The cartridge drops into the existing mechanism and advances like the original. Staff swap it in minutes without tools, so downtime stays low during busy shifts.

Nylon fabric resists fraying through high-volume

The purple ink formulation is tuned for carbonless copy sets and standard single-sheet work. A fixed spool geometry prevents snags on the printer’s advance gears. Buyers who need colour ribbons or wider formats must look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How often will the CIM5552 purple nylon ribbon need to be replaced in an Epson ERC-18 printer?

Replacement depends on print volume; the ribbon yields a fixed character count per roll, so heavy daily use will require more frequent changes than occasional printing.

What limits continuous printing with this ERC-18 compatible ribbon before output fades?

The ink reservoir in the nylon fabric depletes gradually; once saturated fibres run dry, characters lose density and the ribbon must be swapped.

Does the CIM5552 ribbon generate extra heat or noise during all-day printing?

The ribbon itself is passive; it adds no heat or noise beyond the printer’s normal mechanism operation.
